Tomato Moneymaker
Tomato ‘Moneymaker’ is a classic, much-loved variety that has been grown in British gardens for generations. Reliable, productive and easy to grow, it produces generous crops of smooth, medium-sized red tomatoes with a good traditional tomato flavour.
An excellent all-rounder, the fruits are ideal for salads, sandwiches and everyday cooking. Plants are vigorous and perform well both in a greenhouse and outdoors in a warm, sheltered position. ‘Moneymaker’ is an indeterminate (cordon) variety, so plants should be supported and the side shoots removed as they grow.
Sow indoors from February to April. Sow thinly in seed compost and keep warm until germination. Pot seedlings on when large enough to handle and plant into their final position once the risk of frost has passed.
Annual.
Height: approximately 1.5–2m.
Position: Full sun.
Harvest: July to October.
Type: Cordon / indeterminate.
Excellent for: Reliable cropping, salads, sandwiches and everyday cooking.
