Tomato ‘Black Krim’ is a distinctive heritage variety originating from Crimea, prized for its large, dark mahogany-red fruits and exceptionally rich flavour. The handsome beefsteak tomatoes develop characteristic dark green to brown shoulders and have juicy, meaty flesh with a wonderful balance of sweetness and acidity.
An open-pollinated heirloom variety, ‘Black Krim’ is an indeterminate (cordon) tomato producing substantial fruits that are particularly good for slicing and eating fresh. Plants are vigorous and can be grown in a greenhouse or outdoors in a warm, sheltered position. Support the plants as they grow and remove the side shoots regularly.
Sow indoors from February to April. Sow thinly in seed compost and keep warm until germination. Pot seedlings on when large enough to handle and plant into their final position once the risk of frost has passed.
