Snapdragon Mix

£2.20

Snapdragons. Antirrhinum majus. One of the absolutely essential plants for the cutting or cottage garden.  Over 200 seeds per packet.  Beautiful pink shades. Loved by bees.

This is a perennial but you can grow as annual for consistent results. Snapdragons self-seed very readily so you will have new plants every year.

Sow in autumn or spring. Flowers late spring/early summer.  The seeds are tiny so sow on top of soil for successful germination (do not cover with soil/vermiculite).

All seeds are grown on an organic, open pollinated site.

Snapdragon Growing Guide

Sowing time: Sow indoors from February to April, or sow outdoors in April and May. Surface sow the seeds and do not cover them, as they need light to germinate.

Plant out: Plant outdoors from May onwards, after the risk of frost has passed.

Flowering period: June to October.

Height: Up to 90 cm, depending on the variety. Grow in full sun in well-drained soil. Taller varieties may need support.

Seed saving: Allow seed pods to dry on the plant. Collect the tiny seeds once the pods have turned brown and store them in a cool, dry place.

Pests and problems: Protect young plants from slugs and snails. Water during prolonged dry spells and deadhead regularly to encourage continuous flowering. Ensure good air circulation to help prevent rust and other fungal diseases.
